Check the live CBP wait before you leave the clinic
On the web
Open CBP Border Wait Times (live estimates by port) and choose Andrade from the ports on the Mexican border. CBP shows whether the port is open and gives its current estimate for each type of lane it reports there.
On your phone
CBP's Mobile Apps Directory lists two official apps that show border waits: the CBP Border Wait Times app, and CBP Link, which CBP describes as one portal for several of its services, including checking border wait times. Use the directory to find the official versions.
What the number means
According to CBP's app directory, the Border Wait Times figures are estimates, refreshed by the hour, of how long it takes to reach the primary inspection booth, which is where you first meet a CBP officer at the land border. It is an estimate of the line ahead of you, not a promise. That is why this Guide does not print a typical wait: any figure written here would soon be out of date, while CBP keeps refreshing its own estimate.
Andrade port hours (official)
CBP's Andrade Port of Entry page lists hours of 6:00 am to 10:00 pm PT, every day of the week. CBP labels them as office hours, and its Border Wait Times listing for Andrade shows the same daily window. The port page carried a CBP "Last Modified" date of Sep 23, 2025 when we checked it on November 2, 2026. Hours can change, so open that page again on the day you cross.
Pacific time vs Arizona time
CBP gives the Andrade hours in Pacific time. If you are staying in Yuma or driving in from elsewhere in Arizona, your phone may show a different clock for part of the year. The time difference with Yuma is explained in our Andrade border crossing checklist. Confirm your appointment time with the clinic and make sure you both mean the same clock.
Walking or driving back: read the right line
On Border Wait Times, CBP reports Andrade's passenger vehicle lanes and pedestrian lanes as separate entries. Check the reading for the way you are actually crossing: the pedestrian line if you left your car on the US side and walked over, or the vehicle line if you drove into Mexico. The two readings are not interchangeable, and this Guide does not compare which one moves faster.
If you plan to leave your car on the US side, read our notes on parking at Andrade. For getting between the port and the clinics, see walking in Los Algodones.
SENTRI and Ready Lanes at Andrade
SENTRI is a CBP Trusted Traveler program for pre-approved travelers. Enrollment involves a background check and an in-person interview, and members use dedicated primary lanes at land ports on the southern border (CBP: SENTRI).
Ready Lanes are lanes CBP sets aside for vehicle passengers and pedestrians who carry RFID-enabled travel cards, such as a U.S. passport card, an Enhanced Driver's License, an Enhanced Permanent Resident Card or a Trusted Traveler card (CBP: Ready Lanes).
Before you count on either lane, check the Andrade listing on Border Wait Times to see which lane types CBP shows for the port on the day you cross.
What can slow you down at the booth
- Have an accepted document in your hand. CBP's Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative page lists the documents accepted at land ports and warns that travelers without a compliant document are likely to be delayed. The full list for dental patients is in our Andrade border crossing checklist.
- Declare what you bring back. CBP's Mexico travel page says everything you acquired in Mexico has to be declared.
- Medication from your appointment. The CBP and FDA rules are covered in bringing medication back. Declare it.
Planning your dental day around the return line
- Ask the clinic to confirm, in writing, your appointment time and when they expect to finish.
- Check CBP Border Wait Times before you leave the clinic, and again just before you join the line.
- Leave a generous margin before the port's listed closing time, and avoid tight plans on the US side right after you cross.
- Bring water, sun protection and comfortable shoes; there are more practical notes in walking in Los Algodones.
- If your treatment runs over more than one day, see where to stay in Los Algodones.
For the shape of a full appointment day, see the one-day dental itinerary and planning your first dental trip. For the drive itself, see getting to Los Algodones from Yuma or the guide for patients coming from Phoenix or Tucson.
Clinics in this Guide
This Guide covers two clinics in Los Algodones: Dental Solutions Algodones and Dental Del Rio Algodones. Ask either clinic to confirm your appointment time in writing so you can plan around the port's hours.
Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I check the current wait at the Andrade Port of Entry?
Use CBP's Border Wait Times website and choose Andrade, or use the CBP Border Wait Times app or the CBP Link app. Both apps are listed in CBP's Mobile Apps Directory.
What does the CBP wait time actually measure?
CBP describes it as an estimate, refreshed by the hour, of the wait to reach the primary inspection booth, where you first meet a CBP officer. Treat it as an estimate, not a promise.
